Directions
Ever since moving into the new part of the university building the route isn’t as easy anymore as it once was.
While we’re waiting for the Unimaps app, in hopes that it’ll provide a reliable way to find your way through the university, we have created our own directions.
You can check out two of the easier routes below. Due to the structural conditions of the building they’re not as accessible as we’d want them to be.
The starting point is always the main entrance on floor 01 (displayed as -1 in the elevators).
The ground floor is also called floor 0 in Germany, and from there we count up.
Double door systems (glass door and black emergency fire door) usually have door openers and are oftentimes held open already.
They don’t always work and in many cases only open the black fire doors, not the glass doors.
This impacts the general accessibility.
Both maps mention the Chile-Wandbild (Chile mural) which can be found on the ground floor (hall floor) on floor 0, in front of the Audimax.
Route 1: Stairs, Stairs, Stairs
From the main entrance take the stairs up.
Turn left and walk straight towards the Chile mural in front of the Audimax. It should already be visible from there.
To the left of the Chile mural you can find the Student Service Center and the BAföG department.
To the right is the S tract where we’re located.
Turn right, walk along the mural and turn left right after.
Take the next hallway on the right, in between the lecture halls H15 and H16. After the first double door take the elevator or the stairs up one floor to floor 1.
From the elevator turn left, from the stairs turn right.
Go through the next double doors into the S tract. The AStA offices and our Counselling Café are in the hallway to the right, on the right hand wall.
Weg 2: Snack to go?
This route is more accessible but still not fully.
Don’t take the stairs up but turn left immediately after passing the main entrance. Go through the cafeteria Sowls (this door is oftentimes open, especially during service hours, but doesn’t have a door opener).
On the right side, in between a seating area and the serving counter, is another set of double doors that lead to an elevator and staircase. Take the elevator or stairs up one floor to the ground floor (floor 0). From the elevator turn left, from the stairs turn right. Go through the next double doors. From there you should see the Chile mural.
Behind you, left from the Chile mural, is the Student Service Center and the BAföG department.
Straight ahead is the S tract where we’re located.
Walk along the mural and turn left right after.
Take the next hallway on the right, in between the lecture halls H15 and H16. After the first double door take the elevator or the stairs up one floor to floor 1.
From the elevator turn left, from the stairs turn right.
Go through the next double doors into the S tract. The AStA offices and our Counselling Café are in the hallway to the right, on the right hand wall.
We hope that these directions will make navigating the new routes easier.
